Job Summary:

The Director of Sales for logistic services will develop and sell Plastic Express logistic services to producers, distributors, traders, product end users, and other customers to meet the annual sales plan. They will initiate, cultivate, and maintain business relationships and business opportunities within their assigned sales territory. They will negotiate under corporate guidance directly with customers to secure service contracts.

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing clients in the transportation and logistics fields
  • Identify and locate new clients through a variety of methods including networking and market research
  • Develop and implement strategies for sales established by management in an assigned region or portfolio
  • Apply knowledge of the field and product features to match products to the needs of clients
  • Answer inquiries from clients concerning products, their uses, and the industry at large
  • Provide information, quotes, credit terms, and other bid specifications to clients
  • Negotiate prices, terms of sales, and/or service agreements; prepare contracts and submit orders
  • Develops, provides, and updates sales projections and forecasts for territory and account portfolio
  • Prepare and report sales calls, activities, results, status of accounts, and leads to manager
  • Oversee and administer sales training to CSR group and Sales Representatives
  • Oversees customer contract management and reviews, edits and analyze agreements
  • Ensures customer satisfaction with products and services as measured through client feedback surveys
  • Leads and manages direct reports for continual improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of the group in achieving sales targets
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others

Qualifications: 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Marketing, or related field required
  • 10+ years sales and marketing management experience required
  • 7+ years progressive experience leading, managing and/or supervising others

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • MBA is preferred for advancement
  • Industry knowledge strongly preferred

Physical Demands:  

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Licenses/Certificates:  None

Skills:   

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Thorough understanding of rail, truck, and terminal logistic services
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients
  • Demonstrated ability in meeting sales objectives and quotas
  • Thorough understanding of the industry and industry trends
  • Familiarity with marketing strategies and consumer psychology
  • Demonstrate fundamentals of business acumen
  • Proficiency with the word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
  • Ability and willingness to travel for conferences, client meetings, and client entertainment
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing, branding, and sales strategies
  • Proven ability in facilitating group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, executive planning and decision making
  • Ability to sell to a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to provide strategic leadership oversight and address key strategic challenges and opportunities
  • Ability to deploy resources and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints
  • Ability to influence, working with and through people to establish goals and objectives and action plans
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact

Supervisory Responsibility:  None

Work Environment: 

Expected to operate in an office setting with computers, phones and other office machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are fluid based on demand.  Evenings and weekends may be required.  Ability to remain connected even when on vacation may also be required.

Travel: 

Travel to meet with clients or potential clients will be required on occasion.
