Job Summary:
The Terminal Supervisor dispatches drivers (including himself), communicates & schedules equipment maintenance. Individual will communicate with and assist Terminal Manager (TM) in investigating and resolving customer complaints.  Also responsible for communicating with drivers on daily dispatch and other company information provided by TM and ensuring that all Terminal staff are using PPE & working within safety & quality standards.
 
Essential Functions/Duties: 

DOT Safety Compliance

  • Full Understanding of DOT HOS
  • Full Understanding of company ELD equipment
  • Communicate to drivers or assist in maintaining full compliance

Driver Management

  • Communicate with drivers on behalf of TM
  • Maintain driver’s schedules and assign work tasks
  • Super User of Drivers tools & functions

Dispatch

  • Prepare daily dispatch to ensure that the drivers are being routed in an efficient and productive manner to include product compatibility and wash requirements in regards to Plastic Express procedures
  • Interface with PLXP Customer Service Representatives to ensure the Customer Order requests are being met
  • Communicate items that will effect delivery performance
  • Serve as dispatcher to both produce daily dispatch of loads & close out loads in the Live Load Review Finalization process

Maintenance

  • Wash tanks or supervise the activity with tank washers or drivers
  • Ensure that all washout inspections of trailers are completed
  • Ensure that all outside maintenance is being performed by qualified vendors including the tractor & trailers’ 90-day service intervals
  • Oversee overall equipment maintenance to include:
    • Manage all equipment; communicate with Terminal Manager to resolve any issues that arise
    • Oversee company wash/wax/and polish program to comply with Plastic Express standards
  • Make equipment available to vendors for maintenance including transport of equipment to shops

Rail Terminal

  • Communicate with PE Rail Team for inventory needs
  • Cross check that dispatched inventory is available for dispatch

Sample & Seal Program

  • Oversee sample retention and driver seal records for terminal compliance
  • Order and maintain sample bag & railcar seals inventory from vendors
  • Input seals into PXTM for driver traceability
Qualifications: 

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma at a minimum
  • Class A driver license with experience in combination vehicles
Licenses/Certificates:
  • Valid state issued driver’s license, Passport and clean DMV record. Class “A” CDL is required.
  • Must maintain a current DOT medical qualification to drive while employed by Plastic Express

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  These tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service trucks & trailers
  • Must be able to visually inspect trucks & trailers
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Additional Job Details:
Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Will serve in a supervisory capacity for all Bulk Drivers assigned to the terminal as well as other terminal support personnel.
Work Environment: 
  • This job routinely operates in a professional office environment. Also routinely operates in the field and in rail yards, servicing customer’s deliveries by driving semi-trucks, loading and offloading trailers. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers/scanners and also often requires the use of hand tools while working on or under trucks and trailers.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 
  • This is a full-time position. Must be on call for guidance 24/7, while Terminal deliveries are taking place.
  • Additionally, driving/hauling loads is expected to occupy at least 50% of the job duties.
Travel: 
  • May be required; up to 25% of the year.
